Merck: In Tune with Nature

Musical playground: Biofeedback musician Karel Hacker explores the sounds generated by plant life

We helped Merck celebrate the festival by bringing nature, science, and technology together. With biofeedback musician Karel Hacker we composed the e track Primordial Connection  using special hardware and the electronic impulses of various plants. Curious? Watch the film to see more…

A curious collaboration: making music with the electronic impulses of plants.

Merck is a proud supporter of the Biotopia Natural History Museum – sponsoring its 2022 Sense Festival. The event encouraged visitors to experience the natural world through the perspectives of other organisms. Goal: promote a more sustainable relationship between humans and other living things.

Nature has always inspired science and tech. To highlight this we complemented the main musical feature with short interviews from leading Merck scientists to discover how nature inspires their research…

Julie Murell: How damaged DNA can be repaired with CRISPR, a natural defence system in bacteria...

Nina Siragusa: How bioconversion helps further align nature and science…

Ralph Dammel: How microchips save energy by mimicking the human brain…
